All Men Are Created Equal Tour
Living-history tour of Civil War site Carnton exploring American independence themes.
This 90-minute guided experience takes visitors through the house and grounds of Carnton while exploring a crucial thread of American history. You'll trace the nation's journey from its founding through the Civil War, examining how the country's foundational ideals became increasingly fractured over decades due to the institution of slavery. This particular tour offers a perspective you won't find elsewhere in Tennessee.
The tour runs at 9 a.m. Monday through Saturday, with tickets priced at $29 per person. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early. Ticket proceeds directly support the creation of a new exhibit and museum opening at the Carter House visitor center in 2026, which will also focus on the theme of equality. You can purchase tickets online in advance.
