Your guide will walk you through the nation's history from its beginnings through the Civil War, highlighting the centuries-long conflict over what equality truly meant and how disagreements over slavery gradually pulled the country apart. This particular tour is unique to Tennessee and offers a thoughtful look at these pivotal themes in American history. Tickets are $29 per person, and the tour runs at 9 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early. An important note: ticket proceeds support the creation of a new exhibit and museum coming to the Carter House visitor center in 2026, which will feature this same theme.
