All Men Are Created Equal Tour

This 90-minute guided experience takes visitors through the history of the United States from its founding through the Civil War, exploring how the nation's ideals clashed with the reality of slavery. Guides lead groups through Rippa Villa's house and grounds, tracing the decades-long conflict over what equality truly meant and the forces that pulled the country apart. This particular tour offering is unique to Tennessee and isn't available anywhere else in the state. Tickets are $29 per person, and the tour runs at 9 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early. All ticket proceeds support the creation of a new exhibit and museum opening at the Carter House visitor center in 2026, which will also focus on this same theme.
