America the Beautiful: National Parks & Landmarks by Rail

America the Beautiful: National Parks & Landmarks by Rail at CHEEKWOOD ESTATE & GARDENS

This summer, Cheekwood transforms its grounds into a miniature journey across America's most iconic destinations. Ten working trains travel more than 850 feet of track, passing 25 detailed landmarks crafted entirely from natural materials—think willow branches, moss, pinecones, and bark shaped into everything from the Statue of Liberty to the Golden Gate Bridge and the Great Smoky Mountains. It's the estate's largest train installation to date, and it's a wonderful way to explore the country's treasures without leaving Nashville. Families can wander through the Bradford Robertson Color Garden to discover each handmade landmark up close. On select Tuesdays in May, the experience includes special daytime activities like art projects and scavenger hunts to keep younger visitors engaged. Food vendors are on-site most weekends if you'd like to grab a snack during your visit. This exhibition runs for a limited time, so it's worth planning a trip soon. Tickets are available for reservation, and Cheekwood's year-round TRAINS! exhibit is also open if you'd like to see even more model train displays.
