Black Arts Bash

Cheekwood's sixth annual Black Arts Bash is an all-day celebration welcoming families to experience the breadth of Black artistic talent and cultural expression. Held throughout the grounds, this year's theme—"Next Gen"—spotlights emerging and established artists making waves in the community. Expect to encounter live music, dance performances, visual art exhibitions, spoken word presentations from local authors, and food created by Black chefs. Kids and adults alike can jump into collaborative art projects and hands-on activities, while the Arboretum Lawn Stage hosts a dynamic lineup of Black female musicians throughout the afternoon and evening. The day features something for every age and interest: morning storytelling sessions with a beloved children's book author, African drum and dance performances, a local fashion show, and vendor booths showcasing art and apparel from area creators. This is a wonderful opportunity to expose your family to diverse artistic voices, support local Black-owned businesses, and be part of a community-centered event celebrating creativity and cultural heritage. Tickets are available in advance, and the festival runs from morning through evening, giving families flexibility to stay for a few hours or the entire day.
