Campfire Story Time

Immersive storytelling by a campfire in the Great Outdoors exhibit—stories come alive.

Bring your child to an interactive outdoor story session where young listeners become part of the narrative. During this Campfire Storytime event, kids will hear "One Leaf, Two Leaves, Count with Me!"—an engaging counting story that explores how seasons change from summer into fall. As the story unfolds, children count along, observe how the weather and leaves transform throughout the pages, and discuss what season we're experiencing right now. It's a wonderful way for little ones to connect with nature and practice early math skills. After the story wraps up, kids get hands-on with a creative activity: making their own leaf rubbings using templates and colored pencils. This program works well for preschool and early elementary-aged children who enjoy stories and simple crafts. Best of all, the event is included with your regular museum admission—no additional cost. Families can plan to spend about an hour enjoying both the read-aloud and the craft activity together.
