Campfire Story Time

Join us for a spooky-fun afternoon of storytelling and interactive play at the Discovery Center's Great Outdoors exhibit. This session features a read-aloud of "Going on a Goon Hunt," a rhythmic, chant-along story inspired by the classic "bear hunt" tale. Kids will get to act out all the fun sound effects together—think stumbles, gurgles, and hisses—while following along with the illustrations. After the story, children will use a Halloween "I Spy" mat to search for hidden items throughout the exhibit, marking and counting everything they discover. It's a great way to combine listening skills with a little detective work. The program is included with regular museum admission, so there's no extra cost beyond what you'd normally pay to visit.
