Community Science: Dragonflies at Waukesha County Parks (Locations Vary)

Community science project: observe and study dragonflies at county parks.

Your family is invited to join Waukesha County Parks staff for a hands-on exploration of dragonflies and damselflies. You'll learn how scientists observe and study wildlife in the field, then pitch in to help collect real data for an ongoing invertebrate survey. No experience necessary—whether your child is curious about insects or interested in contributing to actual research, this program welcomes everyone. As a bonus, participants can earn volunteer service hours while having fun outdoors. Sessions take place at various park locations throughout the summer. The program is completely free, and park entry is included with your registration. Just remember to register by noon the day before—walk-ins aren't available. Since activities happen outside and may venture into natural areas, bring close-toed shoes, long pants, water, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Check the weather beforehand, as poor conditions may lead to cancellation or rescheduling. Questions? Contact ParksInfo@waukeshacounty.gov.
