Discovery Design Time
Creative design and building activity at Discovery Center at Murfree Spring.
Kids get hands-on with history and engineering at this fall-themed session. Your child will learn about scarecrows dating back to ancient Egypt, then design and build their own using simple materials like a toilet paper tube, paper ribbon, burlap, and their imagination. Throughout the activity, they'll practice the engineering and design process while picking up vocabulary like sculpture, structure, and agriculture.
Discovery Design Time runs every Thursday with a different theme and activity each week, so families can return for fresh experiences. This particular session fits perfectly into fall learning, giving children a chance to explore why scarecrows matter while creating something they can take home. It's a great way to blend art, history, and hands-on problem-solving in one activity.
