Franklin’s Factory Historic Walking Tour
Historic walking tour at The Factory—learn Franklin's industrial heritage up close.
Explore the rich heritage of The Factory on a guided walking tour led by the site's staff historian. You'll stroll through both indoor and outdoor spaces while learning about nearly a century of history—from its days as an industrial hub to its transformation into a vibrant community destination. The tour covers the people, products, and significant moments that shaped this beloved Franklin landmark, and you'll see firsthand how historic spaces now house today's shops, restaurants, and attractions.
Tours run for about an hour and operate almost every Wednesday and Friday at 11 AM from April through October, rain or shine. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and dressing for the weather. Arrive 10 minutes early to check in at The Factory x Franklin Visitor Center, located next to The White Alligator. If you prefer a more social experience, the site also offers evening "Sips & Stories" tours on Tuesdays that combine history with a beverage from The Skylight. For groups of six or more, private customized tours are available by contacting the booking coordinator.
