Free Wednesday at NMAAM

Bring your family to explore African American music history without spending a dime. On the first Wednesday of each month, the National Museum of African American Music opens its gallery doors at no cost, thanks to support from the Nissan Foundation. Just arrive during regular hours, check in at the front desk, and you're ready to wander through exhibits that showcase the roots and influence of African American music on our culture. On this particular Wednesday, the museum is also hosting "Sounds in Cinema," a special screening program that pairs documentaries with live conversations. These films explore how African American music has shaped cinema, and they often feature the artists, producers, and music professionals involved in creating the work. It's a wonderful way to dig deeper into the connections between music and film while enjoying free admission to the whole museum.
