Lane Motor Museum Vault Tours

Exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Lane Motor Museum's rare-car vault collection.

The Lane Motor Museum holds guided vault tours most weekends, giving families a behind-the-scenes look at vehicles normally kept in storage. While the main exhibit displays about 150 cars, the museum actually owns over 550 automobiles and motorcycles. These 45-minute tours take you downstairs to explore many of the other vehicles in the collection. Tours run at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., though schedules vary by week, so check ahead before you visit. Groups gather near the brochure display inside the main exhibit area, and tours depart promptly, so arrive about five minutes early. Each tour is capped at 30 people. To join a vault tour, add it to your regular museum admission for an extra $10 per person. Tickets are available at the admissions counter on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Photography is welcome during the tour. Keep in mind that access involves descending a long, steep staircase, though staff can arrange alternative entry through a back door if needed—just let them know when you arrive. For safety, guests must stay within marked lines since the vault floor can be slippery from oil and grease.
