Lane Motor Museum Vault Tours

The Lane Motor Museum holds special guided tours of its vault storage area most weekends, giving families a behind-the-scenes look at vehicles beyond what's on display in the main galleries. With over 550 cars and motorcycles in the collection, the vault houses many gems that don't fit in the regular exhibit space. These 45-minute tours let you explore a different selection of the museum's holdings, and photography is welcome throughout. Tours run at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on most Saturdays and Sundays (schedules vary by week, so check ahead). Each tour is capped at 30 people and costs an additional $10 per person on top of regular museum admission—just purchase tickets at the admissions counter when you arrive. Note that accessing the vault involves descending a steep staircase from the main exhibit level; if stairs aren't an option for your family, staff can arrange alternative access via the building's back entrance. Groups gather near the brochure display and tours start promptly, so arriving five minutes early helps. The storage area has slippery spots from oil and grease, so everyone must stay within the marked yellow lines while viewing the cars.
