Summer Playgrounds – Milwaukee Recreations

Milwaukee Recreation operates free summer playground programs at multiple sites throughout the city, welcoming kids ages 6-17. Each location offers enrichment activities, games, and recreational opportunities in a casual drop-in format—no registration needed. Most sites feature water play options like splash pads or wading pools to keep kids cool during the hot months. Many playgrounds also provide free meals that must be eaten on-site, though a few locations don't offer food service. Keep in mind that while playgrounds are staffed with activity leaders, general supervision is available only for children who stay on the grounds. This program works best as a complement to your summer plans rather than a full child care solution. Most sites operate Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a few open Saturdays as well. It's a great way for kids to stay active and social over the summer without any cost to your family.
