Turning Night! Guided Open Studio with Matt Iannacci
Guided open studio pottery experience at Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh.
If your family has explored woodturning before, this evening session offers a chance to work on a personal project with professional support. You'll have three hours at the lathe alongside other turners, with instructor Matt Iannacci on hand to help you tackle your own turning ideas. He'll guide you through setup and technique so you can actually complete what you set out to make. It's a relaxed community atmosphere—perfect for anyone with some lathe experience who wants to create something specific without working alone.
The studio has turning blanks available for purchase (pen blanks, spindles, and bowls), or you're welcome to bring your own wood blank from home. The session costs $45 per person. If you need accessibility support, Contemporary Craft asks that you call ahead at 412.261.7003 to arrange accommodations. Refunds are available if you cancel at least three business days before the event, minus a $25 fee. Contemporary Craft plans to hold Turning Night again on the first Wednesday of August, so this is a great chance to see if it becomes a regular favorite for your household.
